Arkansas Out of School Network

Part of the Corporation for National Community Service, AmeriCorps is a federally funded program that provides opportunities for people to serve their community while earning money for college tuition and to repay student loans.  The American Recovery and Reinvestment Bill of 2009 allocates $160 million to be made available for this fund through September 30, 2010. AmeriCorps members currently help staff many afterschool programs, and additional members could be a great resource for struggling afterschool programs.  Members offer youth a range of activities from homework help to arts and culture activities to service projects that foster civic awareness and appreciation for community service.
